Provides programs, offers services and engages in other activities that promote and support community development. CDCs usually serve a geographic location such as a neighborhood or a town.

DAV is a nonprofit charity that provides a lifetime of support for veterans of all generations and their families. The organization provides rides for veterans attending medical appointments and assists veterans with benefit claims, as well as hosting job fairs and helping veterans find employment. This is a national resource with many branches and it provides a wide swath of resources to small business owners at any stage in the life cycle of their business.

These are local resources that operate independently from city to city and pursue economic development through the encouragement of small business.

SCORE connects entrepreneurs with mentors to help build their enterprise with free business advice.

The SVAs mission is to provide veterans with the resources, support, and advocacy needed to succeed in higher education and following graduation.

The VBOC Program is designed to provide entrepreneurial development services such as business training, counseling and mentoring, and referrals for eligible veterans owning or considering starting a small business. The SBA has 15 organizations participating in this cooperative agreement.

VFW Posts are local organizations and are meant to foster camaraderie among United States veterans of overseas conflicts. VFW advocates on behalf of veterans and gives back through service and scholarships.

Some VSOs are “chartered”, which means they are federally chartered and/or recognized or approved by the VA Secretary for purposes of preparation, presentation, and prosecution of claims under laws administered by the Department of Veterans Affairs. Non-chartered organizations cannot represent VA claimants but provide other services.

Women’s Business Centers (WBCs) represent a national network of nearly 100 educational centers throughout the United States and its territories, which are designed to assist women in starting and growing small businesses. WBCs seek to “level the playing field” for women entrepreneurs, who still face unique obstacles in the business world.

WWBs are committed to the recovery and success of Marines whether they are assigned to the regiment, remain with a parent unit, or have already transitioned to civilian life.
